Vanilla Club uses a commercial grade weed matting throughout the shadehouse to prevent weed growth or mowing requirements. Although every is made to prevent weeds growing, the coconut husks used in the grow beds can sometimes hold seeds which would need to be removed when young to prevent any further seeding
In a more simple or natural system (with grass/mulch pathways), it is recommended to utilise leguminous ground covers like Pinto Peanut (arachis pintoi) to suppress weeds and reduce mowing intervals. These systems require regular manual weeding and mulching until the system is stablised or weed free.
