Layering Method
Base Layer: Start with a thick layer of seed-free mulch (~10 cm) for aeration.
Food Waste Layer: Spread a thin layer of food scraps (~5 cm).
Mulch Layer: Cover food scraps with another 5-10 cm of mulch.
Repeat until the pile is about 1 meter tall.
Moisture & Aeration
Keep the pile moist (like a damp sponge).
Turn the pile once a week to speed up decomposition.
Composting Time
Fast Method: 4-6 weeks (turn every 2-3 days).
Slow Method: 3-6 months (turn every 2-3 weeks).
Ready-to-Use Compost
Dark, crumbly, earthy-smelling compost is ready.
Apply around vanilla roots, avoiding direct contact with stems.
