Vanilla thrives in temperature ranges: 21–30°C with high humidity - most days at KC.
Rainfall: 1,500–3,000mm annually, with well-distributed rain - KC gets an average of 3500mm spread out across all months of the year, with January - March being by far the wettest on average.
Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter, pH 6.0–7.5 - we use coconut husk for mulch as optimum growing media.
Shading: Essential for vanilla’s semi-epiphytic nature, shade should be 50-75% - our unique shadehouse is the only one in the region with a specific 50-70% shade cover.
