A skilled worker can pollinate over 1,000 flowers per day. This equates to approx 166 flowers per hour, and almost 2-3 flowers per minute.
Optimal success rate is 80–90%, but over-pollination leads to lower-quality beans so do not pollinate more than 10 flowers per stalk. Ideally, do not pollinate the beans on ‘top’ of the stalk as they will need to curve as they grow downwards which results in harvesting bent beans that are less desirable for high quality markets.
